There are several paths directly on the lake where you can drive by car/camper. Very nice place. Were the only ones at the lake and that in the high season! Just beautiful ?? Great view of the mountains
Beautiful lake, not crowded at all, trail runs along lake
Very nice place, turquoise water, mountains around... Slept in the camp further, but very quiet. Even first swim after the winter.. Water is cooold :-D
Awesome place we had completely to ourselves. Stayed at the campground right across lake middleton. Toilet is old and not super clean but it's something. Very nice view on Lake Ohau.
Nice place to picnic and be without tourists!
Super nice spot to take some pictures! No one but us! Turquoise water with mountains around! Unbelievable
One of our favourites in NZ: nearly no tourists (also not in high season), not too many sandflies (compared to fjordland region it is actually sandfly free), beautiful views over the lake and there are good fishing spots to catch a trout. You can walk several tracks or just enjoy the silence. In the end it's good that not too many people come here so this secret place stays quiet.
Yes it is a beautiful lake but have to stay in the DOC camp unless you have a certified self containment vehicle now. Not allowed to stay along the lakeside unless you have. Ferocious sandflies and can get extremely windy. Not sure if it's worth the effort really as pretty as it is!
This is a beautiful lake and area. We camped around here and it’s been one of the most memorable and beautiful spots we’ve been to in New Zealand. Don’t go too far out of your way, because it’s really just about the views, but if it’s on your path it’s worth a visit.
A beautiful drive but not worth the detour if you were hoping to hang out or have a swim. The road runs around the lake without areas to stop or make an approach on foot. The village is a collection of batches without access.
