Nice campsite with view of mountains. There were definitely more vehicles than the advertised number of spaces (we had booked in advance but guess some people hadn’t). One long drop toilet and sink but not drinking water.

Spent a quiet night with warm temperatures and a few mosquitoes. One clean pit toilet, a sink with water tap (non potable) outside. Two picnic tables. 6 spots, have to book online only. Reception 4G weak. Well maintained, nature smells of honey, magpies singing and river flowing can be heard.

Ideal place for us to stop on our way down south after the state highway was closed. I’d recommend booking through the DOC website in advance as the signal is very weak once you get there - although we managed in the end. Long drop toilet was clean and didn’t smell too bad, despite what some of the other reviews said. We must have gone shortly after theyd be cleaned! Beautiful & quiet spot surrounded by nature. No noise at night :)

This is a DOC campsite that requires a reservation ($ or free with the annual pass). The access road also leads to the Turoa ski resort. There are 6 well-defined pitches so you're not stuck to the neighbors. Charming little quiet spot surrounded by trees and mountains, close to a short hike. Very decent dry toilets, a sink with a non-potable water tap

Great, clean place, would love to come back! We stayed here one night, it was very quiet and we slept really well.

Stayed the one night. Didn’t book on line before arrival but did so once here. Luckily one space left. Fabulous quiet spot. Toilet was slightly challenging but ok. Seen a lot worse. Large information board on walls ( print v tiny). Walk back down to the bridge on the road and there is a lovely footpath down by the river. Stars fabulous at night. Lovely quiet peaceful night spent here.

Stayed here for one night in the camper. Lovely little area with access to plenty of walks. No drinking water and toilet is smelly but does the job. Felt safe and very quiet even though the site was full (6 vans) make sure you book online first.

A beautiful, peaceful campsite nestled below Mount Ruapehu. Only 12 spaces so need to ensure you book online, although we booked our campervan space the same day with no issues. It’s a DOC site so if you have the campsite pass it’s free to stay. Basic amenities with just a toilet on site and picnic benches to eat on. Absolutely stunning stay here😄
