Fairly large parking lot. It has two parking areas, one paid and one completely free.
Great spot. You will need a prepaid card/app to shower but the accommodations are very clean, there are plenty of spots, and we felt very safe staying overnight given the number of other people doing the exact same thing. Plus it offers a beautiful view of the mountains from the lot.
A big car park where you can stay for free. There are some powered site, need Penny Cash for that. The toilet was clean most of the time. Hot water was on taps and showers (3$ for shower) If you had good time you can donate a few $$ to maintain this place
Great spot! Lots of space in the lot. Felt super safe here for the night. It was a little noisy from the train but it was not too bad.
Large parking lot with plenty of spaces. Quiet. Toilets and showers available for $10 per person. Convenient for hiking shuttles.
I just came here to say, that it is very inconsiderate to play loud music in a camp with other people around. A lot of the people came here to rest after a long day and not to listen to your music (or annoying tiktoks) Thank you!
There is a paid part (secure from 2 barrier and access to electricity) and a free part (which I would have taken knowing) toilet, shower and oven on site is super !!
Do not pay for this campsite! The shower is cold! We launched three dryers in a row, the dryer was not dry! Otherwise the parking is not bad.
Location to park for the Tongariro alpine crossing walk is great and the car park felt extremely safe, quiet and vehicles spaced out so we could sit in vacant spaces next to vehicle. However the paid showers were useless. After completing the alpine crossing walk and wanting a hot shower I tapped my penny card and all I got for the full five minutes was stone cold water. I washed my hair and then tried the other shower as there are two. This one wouldn’t even work. Not great.
Great site for going on the long hike. Felt very safe amongst lots of travellers. $10 and no need for the secure parking unless you need power. Easy parking nothing special but if doing the hike, they all pick you up from this car park and drop you back - no worries
