Nice campsite with beautiful mountain backdrop at the entrance. We stayed here before and after our tongariro crossing hike. It was a 20min drive to the ketetahi car park. Each site was private and quiet. Long drop toilets were clean with toilet paper provided. Sink available beside the toilet. Some bees flying around and small flies after the sun set but all is good. Would come back again!
Booked in the morning for the evening at the end of February. Individual pitches with vegetation for a sense of privacy. Close to the Tongariro trailhead and Gollum waterfall. Long-drop toilets. No drinking water on site. No payment box on site, so be sure to pay online. A great experience!
Toilettes et douches vieilles et surtout très sales🤢. Bel endroit malheureusement mal entretenu. Personnel pas sympa. Dommage
Great campsite to combine with hikes in the Tongariro National Park. The campervan spots are very private, with each spot surrounded by bushes. There is a spot to swim. Toilets are smelly with a lot of flies, but nothing too bad. Access is a short gravel road.
Right in the bush! Dump toilets were fairly clean. Very basic but a great stay in the middle of nature.
Stayed here the 5th of jan 2026. Booked the stay 4 weeks in advance because we were doing the tongariro on the 5th. Great place!! Very green, private, nice spots. We arrived around 3 and it was only about half full. By 7pm almost all the places were occupied. Toilet (long drop) was fine, enough toiletpaper.
Very nice campsite. Private stops, all well maintained. Tent sites looked more cosy then campervan sites tough. Drop toilets were clean. Perfect if you are going to do the Tongariro crossing the next day (20-25 min drive to shuttle bus)
Delightful and secluded spot, with clean drop toilets and beautiful scenery. Good privacy for vans with the high vegetation too. Highly recommended
We stayed here two nights (before and after the crossing ;)). Nice secluded campervan sites. Due to the high hedges, you cannot really see any of the mountains, but we saw the beautiful top of Ruapehu mountain from our spot. Drop toilets smelled but were clean enough. About a 20 minute drive to the carpark at the end of Tongariro crossing. Decent phone signal.
Nice little spot if you don’t mind drop toilets. Felt very private and secluded with tall vegetation between sites. Modest phone signal.
