If you’re thinking of stopping at Balclutha for the night then do yourself a favor and make the journey another 10 minutes to Kaitangata. Once a thriving coal town now a small peaceful spot right on the Clutha river. Motor camp was unexpectedly fantastic. A really pleasant and helpful check-in and the best shower facilities we’ve come across so far in NZ. BBQ facilities, kitchen and laundry all looked good but we didn’t use any of those. The pub right next door- SO convenient served great meals.

INCREDIBLE campsite. The owner was lovely, showed my partner were to find everything on arrival and gave us a map to plan our trip round the catlins. Paid $35 for a powered site (2 people) for 1 night. Showers were FREE & great, good pressure, hot and most importantly very clean. The bathroom facilities in general were the best we’ve had so far, very modern and again very clean. (4 toilets, 2 showers, all in its own sealed off room. Camp kitchen is well equipped (inside). Talking about a hidden gem. clean quite area. Greet bar and restaurant next to the camp site. Staf so friendly

The shower and toilet were new and comfortable ! We spent a month traveling around campsite and enjoyed the old-fashioned facilities in their own way but it was a first time using brand new shower rooms with heat light.

It's a good little place to stop over. The facilities, like the toilets and washing machine, are modern. The hostess was very friendly. Kayaks are available for rent. Good value for money. 🙂👍🏼

Excellent campground with new restrooms and super hot showers. Very friendly welcome and very well-maintained site. $35 for 2 people with electricity. Highly recommended.

Well worth the short drive from sh1, very well set up camp, everything you need with nice friendly and helpful staff, just awesome and there's a bar and grill right next door, huge meals so make sure your real hungry when you walk in the door
