I love bucklands crossings my family has been camping there for nearly 38 years I think strait after Christmas it has always been my favourite camping spot and it has my heart
Yes beautiful site that we had to ourselves for the night. Travel 6.8k on a shingle, hilly road. The steep descent into site is very steep & ALL towing vehicles require exceptional brakes. For a free site it’s fine. A bit rutted in the site due to damage in wet conditions & young hoons using the area to practice donuts.
What a beautiful spot by the river, very clean toilets and rubbish bins Thankyou to the people maintaining this lovely quite area for everyone to enjoy . The bird song was amazing as well . Feel lucky to be NZer’s :):)
Ground is very soft when wet. Lovely site though. Has longdrops that are old but usable..
Steep road down, but we took 9m bus towing a car, just used low gear and not a problem. Lovely big area by the river dry when we were there but looks like it could be boggy in wet weather. Stayed 2 nights, it was great.
Can be very soft ground so check before you drive across grass areas. Nice peaceful spot by the river
Large area steep access is on road approach. Site entry is flat
