Amazing site with plenty of space, views over the ocean and beautiful sunrises. Just don't go too far into site if you're in a small van/2wd. Had two vans needing to be pushed out of the sand in the two nights I was there. Don't let it put you off as its easily the best site on Northland, but stick to the grass and avoid any big holes in the ground!

So beautiful! Recommended only for smaller vans -NO toilets. We didn’t find the ones that were shown online :( -good spark signal -no problems with insects -even though we have a smaller van we still got stuck in sand but got out easily -the way there was a bit challenging but possible

Beautiful spot but not very flat. We saw a couple of the bigger camper vans having trouble with the uneven ground and getting stuck in the sand. Best to arrive during the daylight. The toilets are a bit far away from freedom camp and are now closed but there are temporary portable toilets.

Amazing place to stay. Highly recommended and very safe to stay the night if your Freedom camping. We had about 12 campers around us, had no troubled or noise, other than the waves. Beautiful sunrise in the morning too. Lots of places to park up.

An exceptional free campsite with an ocean view right outside your van. Be careful when parking because there’s sand, but the gravel road leading there is worth it! We’ll definitely be back!

Beautiful free camp site. Toilets and shower have been out of order a long time and no plans to fix, but there are portaloos a 5 min walk away for public use, and a few bins in the day stay area. Dont drive to the end of the sandy roads as they are too soft for campers, and stick to the grass when choosing a site.

THE BEST CAMPSITE IN THE NORTH. Plenty of space, the beach nearby, far from town... The very best.

Very nice location facing the beach. The area is quiet. It's best to arrive during the day to avoid getting lost on the road, as there are potholes. No shower, no drinking water, and you have to walk to the toilets, which are a bit further, but honestly, I've never seen such disgusting toilets... impossible for me to use them.
