Had a very peaceful stay here - almost empty at this time in early July - just the sound of the running stream. Showers were piping hot, kitchen and lounge comfy, and staff easy to communicate with by email. A short walk into town. This was a perfect end to a South Island campervan trip.
Not worth the savings of other campgrounds when you consider your paying for this (60 unpowered) and it’s further from the city center. It isn’t a steep savings the next up camping grounds are 10-15 dollars more but have better amenity’s and comfort. This campground is gravely and bumpy and the bathrooms are cold and showers are touchy gas showers that are not consistently warm or hot water the 1st women’s shower kept staying cold. 3rd women’s shower was the only one to stay hot for a shower.
Great spot, nice friendly staff and good facilities. Stayed for x3 nights - $60 a night. There is WiFi but it isn’t very good. Lounge has sofas, tables and multiple games. About 30 min walk to the centre
Good place. Had everything we needed. Very nice staff. They helped me get two nights when there were no other options available.
We had a good experience. It was more expensive than we originally were planning on paying($60 unpowered) but if you are in need of wifi, a kitchen, a shower, or a lounge it can be worth it. There arent unlimited spots so its best to make a reservation or get there earlier in the day/afternoon. Its very hilly and there are some sharp corners so some spots might be hard to maneuver into. Its close enough to Queensland to walk
Camping without electricity for 2 people costs NZ$60. Cars are packed together. If it's windy, there's a lot of dust because the ground is made of small stones. The toilets are old. The road leading to the campsite has many potholes. I recommend booking online, as reception opens at 5 pm.
We had a really lovely four nights here.Queenstown and its campgrounds were all really busy and Qbox was no different. Our plans were changing and they were fantastic with immediate responses to emails arranging our dates. We had an idyllic creek side pitch with views of the mountains. The shower and toilet facilities were clean and the showers were invigoratingly powerful with no temperature issues or queues.Great location - peaceful but an easy walk into town.Close to bus stop for Arrowtown.
Nice, quiet campsite with everything you need. Peaceful atmosphere, well equipped, and only 20 minutes from the city. Highly recommended.
Amenities good and clean. Kitchen was a bit small. Staff was friendly. Only minus point comes from the road. Some cars struggled to get to their spot as there were small steep hills with loose gravel so the tires just kept spinning but the car wouldn’t move.
Main advantage is the location, 20min to the lake by foot. Nothing fancy, the amenities are not the youngest but staff was friendly and showers were hot. In our opinion it’s a perfect option to explore Queenstown.
