Bagged the last spot after our first choice was full. The spots are a bit tight but we managed to fit our large RV in. Bays are clearly marked with the blue line you get at all other camping spots.
His QR Code System doesn’t work at all. Even though there were free seats on the homepage, everything was occupied.
Managed to get the last of 2 spots! Noticed a couple of people did camp outside of the arrows unsure if they got fined or not! Was kinda noisy at points with traffic but was already awake anyway so wasn’t an issue for us
Avoid at night! We slept here in good faith but got a $400 fine; the police came by around 3:00 AM. This parking lot is used by locals in the morning starting at 6:30 AM... I don't see the point in listing this place for campers!
We got here around 5pm, and two vans were ahead of us. One van said they had waited for an hour to get a spot. We only waited a few minutes. The workers must have finished at 5pm, and two cars moved away. A car with the “Remarkable Camper” logo came in for a check-up around 6pm. Many bikers were here riding, and it was cool to watch.
It's a big parking area but ONLY 6 SPOTS for freedom campers💀 got a fee of 400$ for standing one night in the spot right in front of the sign , because this one was not part of the freedom camping area (just the ones on the left) 💀💀 also no toilets/water/... they don't want you here in Queenstown...
Most of the campers don’t respect the rules and arrive earlier than 6pm, and just park without booking the spot too. The people who respect and arrive after 6pm cannot park because them. The rules are not effective at all and rangers don’t do anything to make it work.
