We took a transport to start of the Routeburn Track and did Routeburn and Greenstone Valley Track. It took us 5 days and it was beautiful (in summer, when days are longer it could take less time), amazing views and scenery :) Road has three fords, two of them can get quiet long and deep after heavy rain, but we made it with nissan elgrand. Carpark is mostly used by fisherman and hunters, it is quiet place, good to sleep, nice toilets, but sandflies
Between The Anau and Milford Sounds there is another parking area. "The divide" is suitable for all vehicles. The road condition is sealed! We enjoyed the caples-greenstone track but we think it's not "easy tramping". We always needed longer than it's written on the signs. On the last day we really took the time who is written down but we didn't stop and looked around. We flew out of the rain :)
Wonderful hike where you cross many rivers. Cheaper and more technical than Rotheborn and no issues with the car parking, since it is a loop. Many nice waterfalls along the way and huts to make a fire in to warm up. Www. Always-wandering. Com
