The only legal place in Glenorchy for freedom camping in the middle of the town, 3 spots available and online registration needed. Checking them regularly as it's behind a local hall and public long drop toilets.

Great quiet spot in town! Toilets are absolutely fine and if you arrive early enough, spots will be free.

We arrived late at 7:30 pm, and all three spots were already taken. The app showed two still available… It seems like no one is really using the system (same in Queenstown).

We luckily got a spot, close to town and the toilets. Quiet on an evening. Felt safe. Only 3 spots though so I guess they can fill up/ go quickly.

Whoever is going on feb 27 2026..it’s full. Not able to do the check in but don’t bother driving out here now

The only legal place in Glenorchy for freedom camping. Just three spots available, vehicle can't be out of blue marking line, so just 5.5m long vehicles. Council is checking them regularly as it's behind a local hall and public dry toilets. You can park here only after you check in with QR after 6 pm and leave before 8 am next day. If you leave car there sooner as a placeholder you are eligible for fine up to 800$. That's what council said to us.
