This place is a hidden gem! On a clear night, you're guaranteed to see the Milky Way. It's not a popular spot, which is a bonus. The best spot is the left corner, right next to the forest border fence. The view of the lake and mountains is breathtaking. It's super calm and peaceful, even in minus degrees! Starting your day here is a great way to feel refreshed 🙂

Beautiful sunrise!!! Bathroom is a drop toilet but has toilet paper and hand sanitizer! Do NOT come here if it’s been rainy, will be super muddy and could flood due to river proximity. Gravel road is well maintained and easy to drive on in a campervan!

Was all booked out when I arrived without booking, but it is peak season so maybe check before heading out that way. The gravel road is truly not as bad as some people describe it to be. Same as the person saying it’s “super remote”. Yes, you need to bring food etc seeing as there’s no shop but there’s literally a hotel right next to the campsite where you can grab lunch etc. nice campsite, sandflies as expected but just bring repellent and you’ll be alright.

This camping is extremely remote and you'll need to drive through a gravel road to get there (it's quite unsafe in rainy weather). Few spots in front of the lake which is great but ridden with sandflies it got so bad I had to cancel my other booked night.

Who tf wash dishes in river,please don’t do that again!

Nice doc campground in front of lake only drop toilet water was turned off so had to wash dishes in river .Very scenic mountains on 3 sides and lake views some noise from near by houses . Had rain and wind and some sandflys . Gravel road after dart bridge for 15 kms not to rough just go slow on any gravel road No supermarket only general store in Glenorchy so bring all supplies and water with you from Queenstown

Very nice spot! The gravel road was horrible but is repaired now👍 Longdrop Toilets okay, no drinking water (boil before use!), no rubbish. A lot of Bellbirds with their beautiful songs and we were lucky to see a white heron very closely. There are also Paradise Ducks and a Sheep walking around. Better book it before you go there.
