Did a trail run from Marahau to Torrent bay with a detour to Watering Cove beach before heading back. Stunning views, awesome listening to all the birds. Pretty humid so have plenty of fluids, even for a day hike. I always carry a filter with me so got some water from waterfalls but I’m not sure how reliable this always is if it’s warm. I would assume that in wetter weather this track would be quite slippery. I would recommend decent shoes regardless. A couple of ballsy wekas but also a shit ton of wasps on this trail.

Absolute variety with great views and less people is the Inlandtrack. I walked up to the first hat for three hours. Super challenging to the end, never boring way and a view that you do not have from the Coast Track.

I took a taxi boat to Bark Bay and then walked back to Marahau. It's beautiful but the landscape is still the same pdt 6h walk .... For me it's not the most beautiful hikes. A short round trip to Anchorage

Beautiful walk from Anchorage to Marahau (takes about 4 hours with sightseeing). We took the AM water taxi out from the info centre which stops by the seal colony and split rock. Perfect day trip if you don’t want to do a multi day hike

Super great hike, with the water taxi also "short" hikes possible. With low tide, the way can be shortened, possibly take sandals. When getting out of the boat there are wet feet, cloth to dry the feet not forget.

I joined the comments in front of me and took a water taxi to Torrent Bay. Unfortunately, some tracks are currently closed due to the risk of fire, but the Coast Track is completely walkable and the 5-hour hike through nature is really worthwhile! Nature at its best :)

Abel Tasman is a bit overwhelming if you don’t have a ton of time. There’s so much to see and do, and a lot of it is time consuming. We arrived around 4pm, got settled at Old McDonalds, then took a walk to the waters edge and explored the shells and creatures (found some awesome snails and fish at low tide in the rocks!), then went to Hooked for dinner (SO good and super cute). In the morning we hit the rocks at the waters edge again for sunrise then hit the trails. We made it to Yellow Point after careful consideration about stopping at Apple Tree Bay. Yellow Point was the coolest part, undoubtedly. It is quite a trek so dress right and take snacks, you’ll want to. The entire trek was amazing. I so wish we had more time.

Thanks to the other comments, we also took a water taxi to Torrent Bay. That was a great experience that I can only recommend to everyone. We also saw dolphins so close that you could practically touch them. The hike back was beautiful !!

I lost my black Motorola smartphone here on the beach at Marahau today :( If someone should find it, please call +4917663890406. Finder pay $ 100!

Thank you to the 22nd August 2018 Comment!! We decided to take the watertaxi to Torrent bay as well for $37 and it was incredible!! The boat journey itself on a good day is worth it, speeding along the waves it feels like being on a rollercoaster. Our guide showed us the split apple rock too and we saw seals at Adele island. The 5hour walk back is a highlight for us, i’d say the same level of beauty as the Tongariro crossing but easier to do!
