Had one night here, good swimming beach, facilities ok, clean but dated, no kitchen facilities, no dump station on site, we had to drive up the road to access dump facilities. Site right by the beach but hedging all around so no goods sea views
Really nice view, good equipment with kind owner. Also you have to boil your water before drinking it.
Very good campsite arriving unexpectedly after a change of route. They even helped us change the tire. $1 for 4 minutes of hot shower, free cold shower. On the other hand, we had almost no network.
Loved this campsite. We stayed in area 5. The campgroun has bags for rubbish disposal blackwater disposal, laundry facilities at a cost and hot showers that are $1 for 4 minutes which is plenty of time to wash your body and hair. Make sure you bring $1 coins with you. Karen and Kevin were lovely and accommodating. The well stocked shop and cafes are 7 minutes drive away. The site was quiet while we stayed and everyone was friendly. Highly recommend this campground.
Not really geared up for short term traveller stays. Paid shower that runs cold after 2 minutes which isn’t enough time to wash hair. Nowhere to wash dishes properly. Very exposed to direct south-westerly gales. Better to carry on 20 minutes to waikawau DOC 👍🏻 cheaper and cleaner.
Cool spot short walk to beach, paid showers which is fair enough because they are on tank water - townies may not quite grasp the fact, but it makes sense. Even the long drop loos are clean and tidy. Good old school kiwi camp.
Nice campground, but as stated by another reviewer, all the beachfront campsites are held by permanents, you will be allocated a site that is not beachfront and has no beach view. Chances are good you will also be a long way from the facilities, and if you are unlucky like us, you may also be allocated a site that doesn't actually get any sun all day (so the solar panels didn't fare very well).
This is an absolute treasure. Good old fashioned Kiwi camping at its best. Great beach right in front of the camp ground. Stunning sunsets every night. Would definitely recommend.
Great location for exploring further north without the caravan. We were given a black rubbish bag for our rubbish to be left on our site when we departed. Shower and toilet facilities very clean.
Otautu Farm Camp: I see now that it is not stated they have a rubbish bin and I didn’t see one.
