Really terrible,no signal,no hot shower!even I already paid for services! Pretty wishes the reserves management could honest and rise up
Drive up is a really badly maintained mountain road, until you get to Port Charles, and then the road to Stony Bay is quite easy. Really nice, secluded campsite. NO cell service, but facilities are clean and well kept! Book online, as the wifi at the DOC centre there didn’t work the 3 days we stayed!! Beautiful place!
Awesome little campground, very clean and tidy. Cold showers so take a solar shower if you want a hot shower. No cell reception. Views are beautiful well worth the drive
I can see why they call it stony campground, highly recommend having a spliff at this one.
Fabulous DOC campsite. Good facilities, clean composting toilets. Showers. It was windy when we were there so we stayed in a sheltered area back from beach. The Coromandel walkway is a beautiful walk or bike but closed by a slip about 45 mins walk in, still worth doing. Road in is gravel, narrow and windy but we had very little traffic. Only 3 other campers there with us but imagine it gets busy in high season. Would definitely stay here again.
We stayed for two nights in Jan and thought it was such a beautiful beach. The road going out there was very narrow for us with a campervan but luckily we came across no other vehicles on our journey. The weather was awful, it was rainy and very windy so we had to park away from the beachfront. The toilets were very clean with sanitiser and plenty of toilet paper. The DOC rangers checked in once or twice a day on the site and the gates were locked from 8pm. Lovely place!
This campsite is gorgeous. There are spots right on the beach with water views and cell phone reception. The road in is a windy gravel but our van made it sweet as.
Favorite campsite for the entire vacation! Difficult journey but worth it. Great facilities for DOC. Great view, private and spacious pitches. The walk is still closed, maybe that's why there was so little going on... Whatever. Perfect for us!
Incredible place, we went there in low season, we were all alone. Truly magical! For practical information: • toilets and cold showers available. • untreated water • 4G network • By the road we took, it is gravel for the last 25km, we are in a Nissan Vannette and the journey went well. Enjoy your stay :)
One of the most beautiful views at a campsite ever. The journey there was worth it! It was really wonderful to eat there at sunset with a view of the bay. Unfortunately you can't hike the full circular route at the moment because part of the route is closed, which was a shame. Unfortunately, the toilets were also pretty disgusting and incredibly full of flies. There were cold free showers.
