Dudes....Tongariro crossing is not on this mountain ;) Tongariro crossing is at Mt Ngauruhoe! Ruapehu with crater lake is awesome! Went over glacier to reach the top. No issues but choose a sunny day!

We did the alpine crossing today. I am absolutely thrilled with the nature that was offered to us on the 7 hours. Really the absolute madness. We started at 6:15 pm at the starting point and were not alone :) but it has spread very well. It was really cold, gloves and hat are obligatory if you do not want to be cold. The hike was very well done, smaller strenuous games. If you are here then you should really use this day for a hike. We had very good weather.

We did the Alpine Crossing and had extreme bad luck with the weather. Constantly storm and fog. Of course its no fun to be rewarded with a great view for the hard work of climbing, but thats the way it is ... We needed 6 h 10 min. There are toilets every few miles and down the hall a small hut where you can rest.
