Very nice spot. We tried the trail but it was very narrow and difficult to climb so we did not get very far.

Campsite and Track are both open. I talked to some locals, the DOC just bought the land from the locals but they don't have enough money atm to renew the bridges and toilets, that's why some kiwi people are annoyed. Toilets are out of order. The track is absolute amazing. 1,5h loop track next to the river, more than overgrown on the right side (track starts at the end of the car park, hard to find but the better choice to start!) of the river, just follow the orange triangles. You'll pass 2 waterfalls, 2 swing bridges and some friendly sheep. If you don't want to pass the overgrown side, walk the left side of the river first and return after the second water fall (45min return). The river is also a good place to go swimming on a hot day.

The locals have locked this place (both the campsite and the walk) for all strangers. They complain that the DOC does not do enough for it (no toilets, no safety checks on the bridge, etc.). A local judge the situation for us too insecure (even for a walk). We respected that and left the place.

Beautiful two hour loop walk. Cross the bridge, turn right and follow the track passed a cascade and a waterfall before coming to a second swing bridge after about an hour. Cross the bridge and head back down the other side, open country for a short time then back in the bush until you reach the car park.

Good walk if you are staying at the campsite or near. The waterfall isn't much but we enjoyed the walk, pretty dank

Muddy ground, but worth the cleaning of shoes. Gorgeous waterfall and beautiful smaller cascades.
