Track and hut all open and go! We did this track (there & back) starting at 2pm and got back just before 6pm. Fairly up&down terrain but not difficult. Would be a good spot to stay the night.
The hut is closed until February 2020. Day guests and campers welcome.
Very beautiful hut location with abundant bird life! Easy 2 hour walk through the forest, on a well maintained track that was not too wet or muddy even after extremely heavy rain. In future check with DOC before heading up to stay overnight, they are building a new hut starting in April.
My first hike. Was about 2 hours each way. But was worth it. Walking through the Forest was amazing. Lots of sandflies so bring your spray!! Great for photographers.
Not a bad walk, hut has drinking water. We did it in 2:45 return but that was going fast
The track to the Manson-Nicholls Memorial Hut is the one named Lake Danniell. It starts at Marble Campsite. The hut has 24 bunks and you don't have to book it in advance, just purchase hut tickets or a Backcountry Hut Pass before you go. We stayed overnight, it is very beautiful up there, the view on the lake is amazing and the hut is very nice. Just bring your sandfly repellent and soak up the view.
Nice hike to the lake. The hut allows you to stay in paradise. But Sandflies ... Do not book in advance.
Nice spot, it is possible to camp between trees along the lake
