Beautiful camp with river. Nice divided spots for campervans and nice flat grassy areas for tents. Few picnic tables. Water for boiling from the river, toilet was clean and tidy with TP and sanitizer. To prevent flies, close the toilet lid. Sandflies present but mildly. Serene, beautiful and next to the main road and the same time. Plenty of birdlife. Reception good.
Decent average roadside DOC site. $15 pp (although the website states $10 pp - DOC informed). Long drop useable - but no paper (bring your own!). Lovely stream at the side of the site. 4G signal surprisingly ok. A few sandflies about. Some SH7 traffic noise at night.
Beautiful spot in Lewis pass. Just don’t forget to bring bug spray ;)
Beautiful spot, not that much sites but not much other campers either. Bring bug spray.
Beautiful location, but too many sandflies. We do not mind a couple, but this was crazy. Only a couple of other campers in January which was nice.
campsite was fine, lots of sandflies and toilets we're completely closed off, but there was no sign to say anything about camp geese being different.
Nice campsite by the river with good cell phone reception.
Nice campsite but the non-flush toilet cannot be used as the door is off the hinges.
Just had three or four lovely nights here. DOC pass valid here. Quite tight, but more space than Boyle Campsite. A few unlevel sites but we were right by the stream and despite the sandflies and road noise, it was beautiful. Drop loo. No phone signal but Starlink works well. Nice spot. We’ll be back. No dogs and no fires. DOC did duck in a couple of times when we stayed. Find us socials if you’re touring TASMAN TRAVELS
DOC camp sites are just never that great. Right next to busy road with lots of trucks. Only one drop toilet, no running water, no trash cans.
