Beautiful campsite with natural landscaping providing shelter - one of the few sites found in NZ which seems to cater to non-powered (eg tents) campers. Clean flush toilets and sinks with soap dispensers. Gorgeous bay for beach-combing and swimming. Plenty of Pukeko for comical wildlife and incredible dawn chorus, even on a rainy day. Friendly camp host. You must book online to receive entry/exit code - note that you must create an account before being able to book. Nearest cafés in Orewa.

We had a wonderful time despite the terrible weather during times. Enjoyed walking only a few hundred metres to the water for a swim. Friendly volunteer lady Pauline in charge of the camp. Would definitely come again more often

Toilets are clean. They also have drinking water, but there are no power sockets. You need the code for the gate - it comes with the booking email, so be sure to book online.

Contrary to the note on here, this campsite is not closed! It must have been impacted by the cyclone but other than a few boggy patches it was perfect. Loads of space to choose from. Nice clean, well -maintained toilets. Beautiful setting.

Beautiful quiet spot in the oldest regional park in NZ. Park Ranger in site. Clean flushing toilets and handwash basins. No power. Can get soggy ground when it's been raining. Highly recommended.

Great camping site, has it's own guardian so it will be quiet and clean. Easy road access, the park is worth a visit!

Nice, clean basic campground. Plenty of space even when fully booked. Large areas of grass to play on. Tidal estuary is OK for swimming at high tide, just watch for currents.

Beautiful camp ground a short stroll to a beautiful beach. 1.5 hour kayak trip up the river to puhoi pub well worth it. Park Ranger Steve very helpful. Very confusing and can take a long time to register so that is the only sore point.
