Gorgeous spot with beautiful sunset and sunrise views. The beach is beautiful and ok fishing. Right next to the train tracks so a bit of a sleepless night with the trains going through.

No campervans welcome, even with self contained. motorhomes and big caravans only

The woman custodian came to our van (a ford transit) and told us that she thought our green card was a fake (although inspected and issued by NZMCA) wanted to see our paper work verifying it. Told her she could check on the online register and she said she didn’t have her phone. Also questioned us if we were NZMCA members so had to take her and point out our sticker and numbers. She wanted to come in and inspect our toilet set up. And then told us no ‘slider vans’ are allowed at this site.

I see some of the titewads are complaining about the Sandpit not being free. C'mon you meanies , your'e living the life of relative freedom, so dont be so miserable . This place is awesome . Really friendly Custodians , Steve , Max and Barbara. One day the commercial fishers will be banned from raping the bay , so wait until then if you're really keen to get fish. It's hard going just now. Trains , well what do you expect from trains , they're noisey, and cool . Love 'em or hate 'em.

Beautiful beachside campground. Well maintained, clean, and large clearly marked sites. Friendly and really helpful hosts. Direct access to beach. Dog friendly. Allowed my brother and his wife to stay for lunch at no extra charge. Only accepts cash. Will definitely be back. Dog thought he was in heaven

We stopped here to cook lunch on our way past. What a lovely place, on the beach and very happy for us to stop for an hour at no charge! Beautifully kept up! Thank you team.

Close to beach, plenty of room. Tidy site. Trains are a bit noisy but don’t come thru often.

Nice spot right on the beach. Unfortunately there is some permanent campers residing there who have noisy generators going at all times of the day and up to 10.30pm. We noted that they were NZMCA members but had no regard for the rules
