Overnight stays are neither allowed nor prohibited here. Really just the end of a dirt road. We felt safe staying the night. There were a lot of Moskitos in August though and people were fishing at 4AM, but we didn’t hear them, just saw their torches.
Such an amazing spot for the night! The beach is absolutely insane, and it literally feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere There were a few locals hanging around, and some people live here permanently, which can feel a little scary at first — but everyone was greeted us and we had no issues at all! Just a heads-up: there are no toilets here
The place is just an alcove road edge, with very little space. But the place is pretty beautiful. A caravan lives nearby. Little may be scary for a single person. No toilets or accommodation so to anticipate.
there is space for one van or two cars. Road there is muddy and there were some locals camping few meters away from the camping ground. however its quiet place and in the night u can see stars if the weather is good. There are no toilets.
*Waimamaku Beach. Seriously... One of the most exceptional places we ever stayed! The sunset in the beach was great, and the stars at night was unbelievable. Stayed with another NSC. Locals in morning all seemed very friendly!
Not the best place to stay but for adventurous guys a good place for a night. You have to leave the SH12 about 3km after Waimamaku to Waimamaku Beach. You have to drive a track across the fields to the end. There is a small place to park. The river and the parking area are smelling a bit and the fishermen who are there around are a bit strange but allright. I've you go 5km ahead on the highway there is a scenic lookout with a great and large carpark where we visit some other campers. Lovely place to stay for a night!
