AWESOME EXPERIENCE. We came from north entrance exact time on low tide. Easy entrance. We exit in middle point becouse locals said on south I will not make with 2wd. Would go from middle point to north becouse esier to exit in north very smooth. 200t Nissan caravan high top 2RWD Tyres not the best.

Nothing for weak nerves. After a little overcoming everything went smoothly. We even saw a cute seal and a herd of wild horses. Today at 11am was low tide.

We drove over from here and got out to the other exit after 15K with Nissan Serena It was pretty nervous when we drove in to the beach at this point but we made it! Make sure where you need to go in before drove over Got here just about getting low tide so we had no problem to driving but we saw another car stuck but as long as you are not driving too close to the dune you will fine, stay way from soft sand Also looks like there is always 4x4 are around haha check it just in case? Ps. You are car will be very sandy under.. Haha

This access point is inaccessible for 2WD cars/vans. Entered on from Hukatere in our Transit to exit here, sand far too deep to try we had to turn around and go back the way we came. Watch the tides and the weather! It was smooth sailing until we hit the exit, got stuck turning around and luckily were helped by a local with 4WD.

If you do not want to go to the beach with your car yourself, there is nothing special here. We did not drive with our Campervan on the beach, because immediately would have got stuck.

Got a Yamaha R6 & XJ6 onto the beach from this access point. Watch the tides.

Fantastic drive well worth the visit. If you are worried about rust on your vehicle you can rinse off the salt at Houhora Heads Campsite, about 5km South of the Northern beach access. $2 Will get you a couple minutes worth of fresh water to clean the sand and salt off your baby. Further North you will battle to find somewhere to do this as they have very little fresh water.

Simply amazing! Go for a drive at sunrise and you will be in awe!

We drove here from Ahipara by a 2wd. Be careful and drive only when the tide is low and drive near the water.

We got stuck in the thick sand, driving a Hyundai Getz... Thank goodness for the locals who pushed us out, we continued on an amazing drive 15km to the exit spot, easy out at this point, saw many wild horses. A must do if in the area
