A very relaxed free camping place. We were here for a week, all Tuttifrutti. There was only one thing. A dealer came to us in the evening and wanted to offer us grass for a little tank he needed. The deal was $10 cash versus $10 tank we would pay with a card. After he had cut off $30 at the nearby tank, he warned us with a stone in hand that there would be no more compensation.
People definitely deal drugs here. If the carpark is full of campers it will be save. If you are the only camper there, don’t stay. It is right next to road and loud trucks drive by till late and starting early. There is a clean toilet and we were fine staying here a few nights. But definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here
‼️🚫I would not stay here as we were here less than 3 hours and watched a marital dispute and had gang members come up to us asking for things. We left to find somewhere else to stay
Really convenient place, with clean drinking water, and clean toilets. Even in the low season, the parking lot was filled with campers.
Carpark is adjacent to: • toilets (reasonable) & playground (looks great - lots of equipment) • the main road through town so is noisy in the morning. There were 6+ vehicles overnight when I stayed, & no disturbance from any unsavoury characters.
Good spot for one night. 6 parks emplacement beside the road, but it’s not a huge problem Bea cause there are not many traffic during the night. The toilets are clean and just in front of the parking.
I stayed here for one night. There was total 4 vans parked. Parking lot next to the main road ( not that busy during the night) . Eve security guard present here, looking after your safety ( camping in his car for the whole night). Toilets clean. No shower. Hot shower for 3 dollars available in Kaitaia (pool) 7 minutes drive.
Be careful & lock your vehicles at all times including when you're sleeping. An off duty security guard stayed the night watching this camp spot as a known thief was loitering around & people have had belongings stolen from their cars whilst staying here. I'd avoid if you were a female alone.
Near the road, very little space for a lot of car. Vibe was off, don’t feeling it at all, I went to another place
We were there for two nights. The first night was fine, it was quieter, but on the morning of the second night someone opened the driver's door and stole one of our bags. Remember to lock your vehicles securely when you sleep here!
