great spot for freedom camping especially on weekend since its only paid parking at 09:30-17:30 on weekdays and 09:30-13:00 on saturday. Quiet, flat, and toilet that open 24/7 (the accessible one). ~1km walk from Oamaru Farmers Market and the old precinct

A great place to stay overnight. Free (just pay during the day - from 9:30am) and very quiet. Only a few minutes drive from the penguin colony. Clean toilets. The best part - a great bakery and cafe next to the carpark!

This is a free spot from 5:30pm -10am, during the day you have to pay for parking. Good location in the town centre with everything you need close by. Toilets are very clean too and the one facing the road stays open during the night. I had a good sleep here, but it does get busy around 8am.

Good spot that is rarely full. It serves as free parking overnight (5:30pm to 10am) and paying parking ($8/day) during daytime. It's very quiet and the toilets are clean and well kept. One of the toilets stays open during the night. The bakery next door is excellent with friendly staff, plus they open at 7am!

FREE!! Free between 5:30pm and 10am. Just a car park, but really quiet and loads of space. Toilets shut at 9pm ish and open at 9am ish so plan around it, but there are plenty of 24/7 toilets within a short drive. Round the corner from a Woolworths and the main high street. Within a walk of the Victorian precinct (or a short drive).

Quiet parking lot in the city, highly recommended Clean toilets, we’re closed during the night (I guess from 9 PM to 9 AM; I went at 20:50 and they were still open, in the morning they were closed when I wanted to use it at 8:30)

Stay for free from 5.30pm - 10am. Three nights max. Walking distance to the harbour to see the penguins come on to land to nest, don’t pay to go to the discovery you’ll see them for free wandering the streets!
