The toilet and shower don’t have doors, only curtains. There is a nice kitchen and a fireplace where you can sit comfortably. It felt very homely. $20 per person + $5 for a powered site — it’s definitely worth the money!
The campsite was very quiet and empty. There were only two cars there the first and second nights, while all the campsites further up the road were full. There were only two other cars at this one. It's self-service, which is convenient for arriving at any time without any problems. Hot showers are available! I recommend it!
We really liked this place!! Its clean, big kitchen, hot shower (make sure the boiler is turned on in time to heat up the water). Some birds roam the camp and when you let your door open they sometimes go in an try to steal something. Very funny. Also great place to meet people. Only downside is the sandflies. Not terrible but annoying. Also some nights the camp is full by the evening (20h or so)
Eco-friendly recycling, warm community feel. Really well looked after and clean site, with all the cooking facilities and hot showers, as well as organised recycling. Highly recommend!
Such a beautiful experience here at Rata. Friendly hosts, sooo clean and well looked after. Great kitchen, HOT showers (even with lots of campers!! And I was the last to use!) the most incredible beach just 20 mins walk if you walk out the site to the right. Incredible blue waters to swim in. Awesome fireplace, bring marshmallows!!! It’s eco and it’s just perfect. If only the world all live like this. Thank you Fabian and family for sharing your paradise with everyone xx
Like another review said it’s hard to not want to gatekeep this place! Such a gem of a campsite, great facilities - hot shower, kitchen, washing, open fire pit with seating and recycling too. We enjoyed the bush shower right by the creek! Very reasonably priced and love that it’s eco-friendly. Watch out for the cheeky Weka’s and some sandflies. We hope to be back, absolutely loved it.
This camping is amazing!! Really calm in the nature and a lovely mutual space where there are multiple cooking spaces, a firepit and other things to do. Good place to connect with other travellers. Shower was hot and nice and the compost toilet is also fine! Really would reccomend.
Beautiful views. Peaceful and secluded
Our favorite camp in New Zealand! Simple, clean and eco. Great walks in the area too!
This little community like place is like one in a kind. There’s a lovely kitchen/living area with fireplace on which you can barbecue. Also, a nice spot to meet other travelers. The owners are very environmentally focused, which they processed very nice in the campground. Costs are $20 per adult per night and an extra $5 is charged for powered sites. Payment works by an honesty box. The owner visits once a day to clean.
