Road is fine as gravel roads go, need to take care as often single lane. There is a choice or walks from the car park including Harwoods Hole & a view point over, Takaka valley amongst others. Check the DOC website for details. Also a camp ground. Amazing beech forest to walk through its the last 15 minutes that’s the challenge.

Road is not bad, if you’ve ever driven on a gravel road then you have nothing to worry about. Fun hike

Honesty this was the most treacherous drive I’ve had in all of New Zealand. If you want to be nice to your vehicle maybe consider not going. The drive takes about 45 mins one way.

Road is pretty scary, gravel all the way and on the edge of a cliff, but if you can brave that it’s good. There are two tracks, one to Harwoods hole and one to a look out. Beware, the look out is some dangerous rocks on the edge of a cliff, but amazing views. And Harwoods hole you can’t really see but still cool!

You can’t see anything without gear. 183 m descend was wicked and the cave was just spectacular. Definitely the most amazing cave I’ve ever seen. It took us 3:10 to go through, then about 50 mins to hike back to the top.

You can not see the hole without the right equipment, but i think it's still worth going. The surrounding is pretty cool, and the walk to the hole is awesome; beautiful forest!!

Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the Harwoods Hole. The hole can not be seen without the necessary equipment from the side where the trail ends. You can look down the abyss a bit, but the only thing you can see is a rock face, stones and trees.

The cave was amazing. Rappel was a bit intimidating at first but well worth it If you have the appropriate training / experience and gear.
