Good paid campground to stay few nights (8 NZ/each). You can pay at the entrance by card or leave the cash in the email box. Bathrooms clean and drinking water available. We stayed in the winter so there was only another car and the weather was not the best. Probably in the spring or summer you can enjoy more the beautiful space and hiking trails :)
Amazing spot: cheap and spacious ! You hear a bit the road nearby but that's ok. 8$ per adult, the gates are closed at 8pm. There are animals as it is a working farm and also many hiking trails around.
Lovely campground! Clean toilets, lots of open space, eels in the river, short and longer bushwalks. $8 pp, they come around and check before locking the gates at 8pm (6pm in off season). first come first serve pay by eftpos or cash.
DO NOT SHOW UP PAST 8PM IN THE SUMMER! Gates will be locked and you cannot get in.
The most beautiful campsite in all of New Zealand. There are fireplaces and toilets. There is a lot of space and when it is dark you can see lots of fireflies on the historical path. The campsite is on a farm. Dogs are not allowed. There's a stream running through it, and we met very nice campers who don't live far from here but are happy to visit. Payment is very easy at the entrance with a card payment column. 16 dollars for so much peace and freedom. Highly recommended
Amazing place
Lovely place to stay, grass is a bit swampy in winter so be careful not to get stuck. It’s $8 per adult per night that can be paid via Eftpos with vehicle plate registration near the entrance on a little keypad.
Careful with the time guys, the gate close very early (too early?) Don't waste your time going there if it's after 18PM!!
Great place to stay! Very private, quiet, not busy at all. My first stay was before Christmas and the second after the new year and will always come back if I need to stay near Wellington. Awesome vibes and energy!
Nice site in a country valley with walks through native forest, drinking water (clearly labelled by toilets) and friendly ranger. I did the walk and decided to stay last minute, she did a round before locking the gates at 8pm, felt like a reasonable price for a quiet place with locked gates. Some people get their kicks driving this twisty road late at night so beware on the roads and expect occasional motor noise.
