Beautiful, peaceful spot—great after a late ferry. Just be aware there’s a woman staying here long-term who approaches campers quite directly, asks personal questions, and made me feel uncomfortable. Also noticed rubbish being left around the bins and rules like no smoking not being followed.
A lot of space for many campers. It was not controlled and even late in the evening you still had a place The toilets are right next to the parking spaces and very clean.
Awesome spot looking out over the water. Lots of bird life and jumping fish.. Safe spot. Says max 3 vehicals. 15 stayed the night with issues. Good toilets
Nice toilets, only 3 spaces for campervans but as there are no marked spaces, over 10 vehicles stayed there, was no problem. Cute location
Great view and a bunch of space, nobody checked the vehicle limit even though 7 vans stayed here (we were the third). Best bathroom I've used at a free site yet. For the birders, there's a kingfisher nest in a tall tree at this site right now. Among the many other birds, we also saw a new zealand pigeon fly by. Fish jump out of the water frequently; it's just a really beautiful place.
I would recommend not to stay on this camping while is strong wind (30km/h and more). My van was shaking whole night and could not sleep well. Ladies toilet was clogged and unfortunately women were still peeing and pooping in it. Gross.
Excellent free campsite. Arrived at 6 pm in November and there was still space to respect the quota of 3 vehicles per night (although there were more, I don't know how they check). Perhaps a little windy, but otherwise very pleasant and, above all, the best toilets I've seen at a free campsite.
Nice clean site over looking a lake full of birds with a nice grassy area with picnic tables. It has a section next to the toilet for camping, and says just 3 vehicles but when we work in the morning there were 4 parked up. There is plenty of room for at least 10 vehicles. We parked at the far end away frim the toilet block as there is a street light next to the toilet. These were clean but basic flush toilets. We only stayed 1 night but would be happy to stay longer.
Great spot not far from Wellington, nice views of sea and birds. If weather is windy can be a bit exposed. Toilets generally clean and open all night!
It's just a small parking lot. Only three cars can be parked for the night every night. There are people behind it and there is basically no venue for activities.
