So very grateful that we have these amazing spots around our country to be able to go stay at, specially ones with toilets and showers. I see alot of comments on here about the noise from the road and personally the thing is you have to travel to places so noise shouldn't even be a thing

The issue was not the free camp. But a creepy man was there with his car and he started following me. First, he came to park with the other campervans when he saw me at the free camp entry. And then, after nightfall he came to park right next to me. I didn't feel safe so I started my car to go to another free camp, and he followed me on the road. I went to the police the next day, to report the incident. Be careful, especially if you are a solo traveller woman.

We were there Feb 26th for one night. A lovely place by the river. Water skiers were using the river. As some have said it's rather close to the highway an the noise can be bothersome. There is a toilet and sink with running water. A nice green place for the night.

A really nice little spot! Peaceful, even though the road above generates quite a bit of noise, but the view of the river is lovely. The toilets could definitely use a bit of cleaning, but they're there, with a sink and soap – that's pretty rare in a free campsite! The phone signal is weak but still present.

Plenty of space, a bit loud because of the main road, the toilets worked, but were not the cleanest.

Very close to State Highway 1, so loud road noise. Also full of boating and jet-ski traffic (so fishing a no-no). Just a toilet block and feels like a lay-by. Should have gone to a more peaceful side of the lake.

Plenty of space, good alternative if horahora domain is full. Also a great place before a visit to Hobbiton movie set. Pretty flush toilets with a sink to wash your hands (no drinkingwater). Minor downside is that it is on the side of the road.

Perfect place to pull over for the night. Enjoy the sounds of birds and the beautiful views of the water, hills, and trees. Only negative is the road can be a little noisy, but not bad at night and also what makes it convenient! Rolled in around dinner time and plenty of space. On site toilet was very clean.

A beautiful view of the river. When we arrived there was still plenty of parking, but it was the off-season. You have to park on the grass. However, the toilets are dirty. There's no place to throw away your waste.
