One of the most beautiful tracks on both islands. There are various routes to choose from. The tracks are easy—they mostly follow contour lines, with gentle ascents and descents and no steep slopes. I really enjoyed them, with a few mini steps, some river crossings, and a short stretch along railroad tracks, which was also fun. There are signs with information about the local mine. I recommend stopping here, we were completely alone in the parking lot. You can sleep in the parking lot - SC only

Beautiful walks from 30min to 4+ hours. Was quite busy when we got there midday so would be good to go early as the carpark can get full fast. We read all the information boards as we went along and found it really interesting. Lots to learn about the area. Was super cool to see aal the old rail lines intact.

A number of wals ranging from easy to medium difficulty. Get a map from the Te Aroha information centre first. Beautifully clear stream at the carpark. Battery stamp remnants at carpark. Follow the walks to the railways, tunnels & incline. Perfect for families with younger children. Carpark may not be safe to camp overnight when the hoons sometimes come out to play.

We went hiking for 2 hours. Nice if you have the time but not a must do of the region in my opinion. The best part was the one that runs along the old rails. No particular difficulty.

Not many comments so I'll add one. Just did it today, it was definitely worth going ! many tracks available for all levels, we didn't go all the way to the top but still did 2 hours. And all along the way there are little mining things (rails, caves, machines) to enjoy

Native bush walks with a variety tracks taking as long or as short as time available. Stout shoes needed.Historical gold mines from 1881 & the rail lines & steep inclines (3) to explore. Definitely worth a look.
