Lots of pukekos running around, beautiful views. Kitchen area is a covered wooden shack, clean. Tons of mosquitoes at night, attacking even through our mosquito nets. A few sandflies in the morning. The road to the camp is not easy, about 6 km of gravel and potholes. Done in Toyota Estima with caution. Daylight recommended. Water is indeed filtered now - potable. Shower is cold untreated water. 3 compostable toilets, clean (depending on guests). 4G low signal.
Gorgeous location! And now with filtered water 👏
You can just pay in cash, no signal if you try to pay online. Amazing views, but far from everything and the road is little bit scary. I don't recommend if you're a solo traveller
Really lovely hidden place. A realm of peace and fresh air! Composting toilets, cold shower and a spot to wash dishes. Beach is accesible by a 15min walk and the lady which showed us the way was really friendly :). $12.50/person and day, totally worth it. There were ducks and other birds around, I LOVED IT!!!😍 And the views… speechless.
Absolutely beautiful, enjoy the hikes and the beach, it's worth it. $12.50 per person, payable online or in cash.
Amazing views! Owners were also amazing. Pack what you'll need, as it's a bit far from town. The site currently had un-potable water, but had showers and compost toilets on site. Dirt road to get to camp. Try Gibbons Loop track if youre able to. Overall, great experience!
Really peaceful with a good compost toilet, cold shower and a washing area. Some great walks from the site but bring everything you need. Drive is a winding gravel but always wide enough for two. Owners are nice people
Great spot, you can park your van in a beautiful natural setting. $12.50/person. Cold shower, toilet, sink. Close to lots of walks/hikes and especially a stunning beach.
Hi Campers.... here we go again.... another slip will be repaired during winter. For the first two weeks in June there will be time windows during the week to get through (road is open all weekend) and from mid June the traffic will be managed with traffic lights. Expect delays during work hours. The campground is open and please contact us/check the website if you have any questions. Safe travels and enjoy beautiful New Zealand. Ursel and Peter
The road is open again.
