Breathtaking 360-degree view, it's worth the detour to 1000% but it climbs hard lasts anyway! After Taranaki it is easy but still, for non-athletes refrain.
As already mentioned by other people, the unformed but well visible track is really steep. It doesn't winds its way up but goes straight up for about 700 metres in altitude! And if you don't park as close to the bottom of the hill as possible, you will definitely need more than 2,5 hours return. The DOC sign in the little village (where we parked) says it takes 2,5 hours to go one way. And that's pretty much the time we needed for the ascent. Nevertheless I can recommend to hike the track as the view on top is absolutely stunning!
Super hike! it goes up a lot all the way! There is only 8km to go to the summit but the climb is hard! the view from above is beautiful on the snowy mountains!
Amazing view throughout the way. However careful as the track is more than steep and with tricky small rocks! (careful with the way down) Have to come back the way you came.
