Great place, clean amenities with radio music . Great on off switch shower with perfect temperature hot water. Very friendly bloke at reception. Thanks
We booked a beach-side powered site a bit further away from the main areas and did not regret it. Black sand beach and incredible starry nights in their recently certified dark skies. Facilities were simple but clean. Showers in our area did not require coins, and were hot.
Basic but fully functional facilities which could be a bit cleaner... However, the beauty is being right on the beach for only $20pn (unpowered). Dolphins swimming in the morning, beautiful sunsets (when there is no mist) and a lovely black sandy beach to walk along. Have and would return again.
Camping on a beautiful location. Neat maintenance and a lovely shower. Friendly receptionist
We had a great parking lot under trees with direct access to the beach. Dark enough for stars at night. Toilets and showers separate - could be bigger. In our washroom there was no hair dryer and also no socket to connect ours. There are two kitchens, one has a toaster in it, but not in the small one. The "big" kitchen was rather cramped.
We had a beautiful spot by the sea. The dryer wasn't working, so the campsite owner offered to dry it for us. She even brought it to the camper. So kind. Unfortunately, we could only stay one night. A very nice campsite.
Satisfaction level will depend on type of van you have and what area you camp in. Current owners (1-2 yrs) have apparently spent several $M repairing/improving sewerage & water infrastructure at north end of this large site (damaged by earthquake) and have a long list of maintenance/repair/replace jobs that can’t all be done immediately. My experience as an unpowered site user was ok (site 4/5, Wifi 3/5 spasmodic - esp. @ night, showers 3/5 warm v hot, w/m & dryer performance 2/5, kitchens 4/5)
Great site just south of Kaikoura, and much cheaper than the equivalent sites in Kaikoura itself if (like me) you were too late to get a freedom camping spot. Pretty much right next to the sea.
Playground is not safe. Lots of equipment broken. WiFi very unstable, toilets okay clean but very old. Place looks like a lot of storage of old campers/trailers, a bit creepy. Noisy highway close by.
Friendly welcome, too expensive. Beautiful beach. Not very clean…
