A very traditional kiwi campsite. Busy with kids, motorbikes and boats on holidays, otherwise very quite. You have to find a good site, the caretaker on Waitangi weekend knew who wasn't there and gave us an excellent sheltered site. The road, especially the last five 5km could do with the tender mercies of the district grader.

You’ll destroy your vehicle travelling down the long gravel track to get here, then once you arrive it’s underwhelming. Feels really run down and you won’t be able to see the lake from the campsite. The toilets were clean though!

Great site - beautiful views of the lake and good for star watching. Make sure to bring bug repellant and close doors as soon as it starts getting dark! Only one toilet which is quite far from campsites so good for self contained vehicles.

Fantastic camp great community

We arrived on New Year's Eve. It was a long drive on a dusty road with dreadful corrugations in the last 5 kms. We had a warm welcome from a caretaker, but the camping spots were amongst dense exotic tree plantings with no views at all of Lake Benmore.
