Very nice, well wooded! Lots of spaces to choose from and spend a quiet night.
Great free camping spot! Space for so many vehicles, there were only 4/5 other van when I was here. I can imagine when there is heavy rain the ground can get super muddy but completely fine at the moment. Very peaceful spot to set up for the night!
Got here 4:15. Plenty of space. Lots of protected park up places. About 20 campers and caravans here and easily accommodate that many more. Small amount of highway noise but not intrusive.
Lots of space and beautiful views. We arrived around 6pm and had no issue getting a nice spot. The toilet had an absolutely atrocious smell that hit you like bricks even before you open the door but being self-contained saved us from this!
Nice camp spot protected from the weather unlike other ones facing the lake.
Spacious camping area. Lots of space, peaceful. Approx. 30min drive to Mt. Cook. good place to watch the stars and a great sunset spot. Only one toilet, which was clean but smelled bad.
Go to lake pukaki overnight campervan parking just up the road - best free camp spot with unreal views! Lots of spaces available.
Avoid the toilet at all costs, it is the worst smelling toilet I have ever come across. within 2 minutes the smell had stained my clothes and skin.
Great location, calm camping, next to a pound. One toilet that has been one of the cleanest so far at a freedom camping.
Saw this on the way from Lk Pukaki (fantastic) to Twizel for fuel. It looked so good, we backtracked to stay here overnight. Self contained RV meant no need for toilet. There is a canal just east of the campground with cold water if you want to feel invigorated. One of the better campsites, even compared to the paid sites.
