I really liked this place! It was a bit expensive for what it was and we didn’t even bother going in the toilets due to the reviews. Other than that: it was quiet, beautiful views out onto the water, we saw a dolphin 2 minutes after arriving. We were the only ones there, then we parked down at the nicer camping ground 2 minutes down the road for toilets, shower and breakfast. Ranger came around in the evening to check we had a booking, she was very friendly.
Simple, right on the water, below a road. Limited spaces. Very dirty toilets, unusable for me. $15 per person, expensive for what it is.
Such a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. We saw the Gloworms along the pathway. The long drop toilet is the worst smelling we’ve encountered. DOC rangers do come round.
A really nice pitch for very little money! Toilet and water available.
Quiet spot during winter, only ones there. Long drop toilet was in good condition with a diffuser :) pitched up on the sandbank in the morning. So peaceful.
I only stayed for one night but I could easily stay longer! Beautiful views, right next to the sea. I did venture in for a swim, cool but refreshing. I can't wait to go here again.
Nice place right on the river. Outhouses, but clean. A few taps make flushing easy. No garbage cans seen, no showers, but you can wash yourself at the taps. Swimming in the river is possible, jellyfish are apparently not poisonous. One night the locals were playing loud music, but after that the peace and quiet was really noticeable. In the evenings there are sand flies, so it's better to close your nets. The pitches are flat - all in all a great place for an overnight stay!
Small campsite with a fairly steep access road. Idyllic location right by the lake - very quiet. Space for around 10 cars. Payment is made in cash using the registration form or online using the camper pass. The outhouse smells strongly, but is fairly clean. Cell phone reception is available, but rather unstable.
Super nice campsite with swimming facilities. Glow worms on the small path to Momorangi Bay and a glow worm walk from there with lots of glow worms. (The toilet smells very strong)
