No Freedom Camping signs displayed and the site isn't listed on Whangarei District Council page. I stayed anyway. Bit busy with car traffic until about 8pm when the supermarket closes. Otherwise a decent night's sleep. Toilets okay.

When we parked up a lady drove over and said that the area is very unsafe, with a lot of violence and drug use. She recommended us other safer places to stay. Would recommend trying to park elsewhere and avoid this spot.

You can park around 2 corners at the kindergarten, it's very quiet there.

Can camp overnight in the car park at the shops, toilets are across from a police station, laundry mat, butcher, takeaways and supermarket all in one spot. Lots of people coming and going to the shops or just cruising until about 10pm, bakers arrive around 3am ish but head straight in with no disturbance. Toilets used frequently - tidy enough, ventilation means they're not smelly which is nice in hot weather.

Commercial zone parking with toilets. Many car passages at night and in the morning because of the shops which is normal. Only for one night
