Nice track with beautiful views of the cliffs! I hardly recommend to take this track earlier as soon as possible, because the tide growing up between 5 and 6 pm.
A track with wonderful coastal views. You can easily do much of the track on day hikes. We hiked first from Tapotupotu Bay DOC Camp to Sandy Bay return, and the next day from Cape Reinga to Sandy Bay return to complete the Tapotupotu Bay - Cape Reinga section. On another day we hiked from Cape Reinga to Cape Maria van Diemen return.
A very nice hiking trail with great views. As the others write, however: watch out for tides very hard Sunscreen, hat and water are a MUST.
Superb hike. We made it from Tapotupotu to Cape Reinga (2h30) and the return a little faster. The whole ride is beautiful. It is passable for all even children, who like steep hills. Only pay attention to the tide times there is a beach about halfway (beautiful) and if the sea is high you have to wet your feet. Think about hats and sunscreen.
It was worth it! It took us 4 h to go and return but it's wonderful!
