Huge campsite with clean showers and toilets right behind the dunes. Non-potable water is also available. It had rained heavily, so many pitches were flooded. Good phone signal at the campsite. 4G with four bars on the beach.
• Very large grassy site with good clean toilets & cubicles cold showers. • 5 minute walk from the beach which is very long but not that interesting. • DOC Campsite Pass NOT accepted as the site is managed by local iwi, but only $16/pp offpeak. Book online. • 16km of pretty good gravel road (but there’s a few large pot holes so drive max 50kph+/- & be vigilant!) • No taking of fish from ocean ATM
Great location but no running water in whole site when we visited. No taps, no showers, full up flush toilets. Bear this in mind!
Beautiful place, not too far from the beach which is stunningly beautiful. Toilets are clean and it's spacious and quiet. Bring mosquito repellent, they eat you alive. Never been to a place with more mosquitos, even before sunset... Oh. And also hardly any phone signals here.
Beautiful, peaceful spot actually the most northern campervan site by map coordinates. 1 or 2 other vans here today. Gorgeous beach 2 mins over the dunes. Surf is a bit wild today for fishing. Unsealed road in is in reasonable condition: standard corrugations and a few potholes... as usual take your time (40-50kmh) and you'll be sweet. Be wary of logging trucks coming out. Booking can be made online but the page is a bit tedious.
$16 for a night in a campsite, certainly very nice, but very difficult to access with broken roads and dangerous for our van, it's a bit excessive.
The campsite is wonderful! The nature is really beautiful and you only walk 2 minutes to the most beautiful beach. The toilets and showers (cold) are clean. There is no drinking water. The price per person is now $16.
Stunning place to stay and well worth the drive down the 16km well maintained gravel road. Booked campground online, easy process. Loads of space. It was nice and quiet when we were there, we were one of 5 other vans. Toilet (composting toilet) and shower (cold only) area were great and clean. Short to walk to beach which was nice and quiet. We would definitely stay here again!
