Place is nice and there is plenty of place to park, just come early to make sure you get a spot where it’s flat. Phone signal very good. There’s Toi Tois. There is also a water station about 5 min drive from here. Can get pretty windy the site.
Very nice surroundings and walk ways to the river & sea. Take extra time to explore! Good toilet (only 1 though), can get full in the evening and in the morning from day time visitors. Some noisy cars driving by in the night, but it faded soon after. Mind the difference between non-selfcontained and ssc!
Nice place for freedom camping,6 marked space for NSC. Some noisy car driving around all night and speeding at parking.
Beautiful spot, but Beware!!! Don’t Overstay, or park in the wrong area!!! You will definitely get a $400 ticket!!! And this Council NEVER CANCELS TICKETS, Under Any Circumstances!!! Avoid the $400 TRAP!!!
No phone Connection comments are wrong
Nice campsite with specific areas for self contained and non self contained. Nice toilet block with flushing toilets, bins and phone signal. Be careful though as we received a fine (as did a couple of other vans the night we stayed) for not having the correct self contained certification. It appears New Plymouth Council have their own rules on which stickers are legit so best to check their website before you camp here.
Nice, large parking area. There are many other vans there, but everyone is relaxed. Some cars speed by the lake, but the town has built mounds to prevent this, so it's not a problem. The toilet is okay. Good cell phone signal.
Lots of vans here but still very quiet. Clean flush toilets. You can walk around the lake, or walk 10 minutes to the beach. Nice spot
Beautiful place, toilets open all night, plenty of space for everyone, rubbish bins.
I loved this campsite, really nice location and facilities. However I did have trouble with a man in a black vehicle, maybe the same from the previous comment. He turned up in the morning before 8am, parked right beside me and stayed for over 2hrs. He said derogatory things to/about me every time I got out of my van or walked past and he was watching porn on his phone. I didn’t feel unsafe as there were plenty of people around but definitely an uncomfortable experience as a solo female traveller
