We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon and were the only ones there. Very quiet, one bar of reception with Spark, only usable for the bare essentials. Toilets functional but dirty. However, there was a clean and free (!) hot shower with a private cubicle. Fantastic and a thousand plus points. Trash cans were available. No weirdos or crackheads.
Came here on a Friday afternoon. The toilets were alright and it was quiet but looked a bit rough. As soon as we opened the door it absolutely stunk! Not sure if it was the toilets or what? But really bad smell. Wouldn’t want any windows or doors open. Then saw the review about noise across the river and always worry about weekends. Ended up leaving and going to Little Waipa which was huge clean and beautiful.
I came on a Thursday night and it was fine. A ute came.around midnight and parked next to me with the engine on. When i looked throught the window, they moved a bit further and switched off the engine and the lights. With all the comments on other freecamps, I didn't feel so safe but the spot is great with hot shower ! So I would still recommend it. Just lock your van while you sleep.
A stunning spot, with hot shower and a clean toilet. Quite a bit of space, only 3 other campers when we were there. Unfortunately there were some hoons at Bulmers Landing on the other side of the lake playing loud music and doing burn outs to 4.30am. It could easily have been our campground they chose though. I dont think this is a high priority for the police, however it might help if the council put in some speed bumps? We stayed on a Friday night. Might be worse Friday and Saturday?
Close to the river and nice free hot shower
Beautiful location. A few other campers. We sent a very peaceful and enjoyable night here.
A beautiful spot, but a popular hang out for youths. I stayed on a Friday night. Loud music until late, arguing, and a 2am knock on my door, which I didn't open. One car ran out of fuel. Then separately, a guy with bolt cutters arrived at 5.30am to try and steal the shower battery. My worst camper experience ever. The view is picturesque. It was bliss, until darkness fell.
Beautiful spot by the river. A few vans there and dogs and kids happily playing in the lake. But people were respectful and no music or noise. Decent basic loos and good shower cubicles. Great place. No power.
Loved this place! Busy and clearly a spot locals love at the weekend but we liked the energy this brought. Hot showers and toilets. Not great data service.
Stayed here a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed our stay. Clean toilets and even a free hot solar shower. There were a couple of families that may have been permanent residents but they were quiet and respectful. No phone reception here and a little off the main road so not sure I would have been comfortable here if my partner wasn’t with me.
