Walk in camp site only (3km walk) . No freecamp for vans only
The campsite location is bad. I parked in the hiking parking lot for one night, BUT, it's forbidden... Toilets No water Telephone network 5/5
According to the DOC, it can only be reached on foot or by bike. We didn't go there.
The campsite is not where the symbol is on the app, that is where parking is for the Nikau walk to the Kaniwhaniwha campsite. There is a no camping sign at the parking lot by the toilets and stream here. Campsite is walk in only.
You can park directly in the car park to spend the night, a really quiet place, with the river just behind. 😊Dry toilets, there is no water point.
Is not free camping !!! Don’t go for sleep. Only for spend the day there’s good tracks
Nice place to stay in a tent. Clean toilets. No drinkable water.
Great place to park and hike the beautiful Nikau Loop Walk, about two hours easy track.
Nice place. Please be careful with the rabbits while driving here during night. I saw some of them and they are pretty lost and just running there and back through the road. So slow down people. :)
