Very dirty toilets and no place to wash dishes or brush teeth. Also, lots of vermin.

27 August lovely campsites by river nice and quiet clean flush toilets very good.

We had the DOC Pass and were just looking for a spot to stay while passing through, but we ended up really liking this campground. There’s a central picnic area with a pizza oven and further back private bays for campers. It’s a very peaceful place, right by the river. However, there is a weka family with chicks that is quite bold and not shy at all!

Cool campsite 15 mins from Reefton Phone reception 1 or 2 bars Can get a bit damp in the shaded spots. If you want to stay dry, park out by the pizza oven and enjoy the afternoon sun Weka were an absolute nightmare. Sorry but I don't like them at all they stole my scrubbing brush, food, drank my coffee from out of my mug. You can chase them away and they will return in less than 1 minute. Gold can be found anywhere in this creek. But please don't dig out the banks as it causes erosion

We had four nights here with some friends, before the Rally in Reefton, we thought it would be busier, wasn't. Sadly however, there are people living here permanently, with dogs, big dogs off lead running through the bushes, chasing the weka, doing whatever they want. There seems to be a lot of drinking and sadly a bit crazy behaviour too, fires being lit, just not good stuff. It is a beautiful spot, a few sandflies of course, but DOC are definitely not looking after this one. We believe a fello

Gold panning nutters galore only outnumbered by the ubiquitous sandfly. Itchy bitchy skinbites.

Great place, felt a bit remote but people were nice enough staying next to river. We panned for gold, a local lent us their gold pan and we found two teeny bits (I mean really teeny). You need to dig deep under where everyone else has dug - a small spade is useful, and patience.

YOU MUST STAY HERE. This place is such a beaut. - Flushing Toilets - Lots of space (private camper spots, shaded grassy areas) - Gentle stream ok for swim Sandflies were quiet (but this summer has been low numbers in general) There are wasps around but they didn't trouble us. Please look after this place !!
