A bit far from the centre of the city. The bathrooms are old and falling apart (tiles letting loss and very small). Kitchen is renewed. Area of the camping doesn't feel save. I wouldn't let kids play outside the camping after sun down. The kitchen closed at 9pm and open at 7am. However the kitchen was stil closed at 7.30am.
Campground is in a good spot where we could walk down the street to view the lake at sunset & get picked up for our dinner at the Mitai Māori Village. The bathrooms were in good shape & the showers had hot water and good pressure. I’m sure it’s even worse in the summer months, but being so close to the water, there was quite a few mosquitos. The kitchen space isn’t as big as some other paid sites, but still has basically anything you’d need.
Some good bits some not so good. Bad bits: Dump station still not operational, no date for reopening, no information given on the booking details/email etc. Still advertised on the Web site. Toilet block dated but good hot showers and nice and warm. Good bits. Good location for walking into town or to the gondola. Level pitches done with hedges between. On site hot pools are a great bonus and trump some the bad bits. Some of the staff were great some were clearly having a bad day!
If there is no other place to stay it’s fine for a night. But this place is just run down. Kitchen was supposed to open at 7am, but they didn’t open the doors until after 8 am. Not so nice if you want to have an early morning leave.
Much in need of renovation in most areas although the kitchen was functional. , Hot showers good but cubicles very poor. Renovation picture on wall but no date for completion. Hot tubs very hot but rather shoddy surroundings, don’t expect a spa experience. No water on our pitch, only electricity and the dump station out of action with no ETA. WiFi advertised as free but only free for first 300MB after that you pay per day. Quiet site from external noise with helpful staff on the plus side.
It's okay for a night but not more. I think it's quite expensive for what you get. Hot pools, regular small swimming pool and a small playground. Showers are very small and you have to be careful otherwise everything will be wet after. It's not really clean but for a night it's okay. If you are going to stay longer I would recommend another Campingside. Didn't use the free limited wifi.
We paid $177 for an “ocean view” site. It was not ocean view — we were four rows back from the water with multiple RVs in front of us. The campground is extremely overcrowded. RVs, cars, and families are packed tightly together with very little space between sites. We came with our baby hoping for a relaxing day by the pool, but it was so busy there weren’t even any seats available. For the price, this felt oversold and poorly managed. I would recommend saving your money and choosi
Reasonable price, walking distance to centre of Rotorura, free hot tubs on site and small swimming pool. Thermal area behind and hot beach. Kitchen area adequate, own pots and pans needed. Showers hot
Hot showers, good kitchen. Quiet and easy walk to town. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night.
Not a bad site at all it is dated but has everything you need. Geothermal activity on the site which is cool. Free hot showers. Free hot tubs. Free cooking area with plenty space. Overall nice camp site.
