Great spot with a magnificent sea view. Clean toilets. Good phone signal. However, be warned, we were harassed by an adult sea lion that chased us right up to our van. We had to lock ourselves inside.
Although room for more than 8 campsites, it is a condition of staying that no more than 8 stay. Others may get fines for staying. Note the 8 campsites designated are framed around the drive behind the toilets. Please donβt abuse the conditions of staying or we may lose the use of this great campsite.
This was a fine first stop for us, after picking up our camper van in Christchurch and stopping to provision. Thereβs no issue with a bridge, as was noted in the site description. Access was easy, and there are 6 vehicles here, with room for several more. The single toilet seems to be newer, and was clean and supplied with paper and sanitizer.
Great spot. Very quiet and chill, very clean drop toilet. Nice small grass field with spots sheltered from wind.
More than 12 can fit if necessary. We didn't see any closed bridges :)
Cool spot right by the sea and river, quiet place and plenty of space.
Arrived in the afternoon only 3 other vans so found a space. Outhouse were ok but only 1. Telephone signal was good.
Beautiful place with a toilet and wheelie bins for rubbish. Room for about 12 spots. Sheltered and not far off the main road
A very idyllic spot on a lake with a large bird colony. On the opposite shore, there's one very clean toilet, but no water, and the hand sanitizer dispenser is currently empty. Directly behind a large stone dune by the sea, there's a picnic table, at least 10 unregulated pitches, and the rubbish bin has been emptied.
Great place for a night of freedom camping in a certified self contained Camper. The toilet is a fixed long drop with ventilation and was clean. You can either hide in the bushes or look out onto the lagoon while a earthen wall protects from the roughest winds and the loud sounds of the waves nearby. The drive from the main road is easy, flat and unpaved for the last 500 m or so. We pulled up on 12th Nov. and around 5 of the 12 spots were taken already. I recommend!
