bathroom closed 18:00pm :(
There are four parking spaces and a drinking fountain, but accommodation is only available from Monday to Thursday. The toilets were closed today.
Parked up late on a Saturday night. did not notice that it was only Mon -thurs parking. We were woken very abruptly and had to move on at 6am Sunday morning.
We didn't see the signal for freecampground so we park at the end of the parking. It is a big parking of the stadium. A lot of trucks and some noise in the afternoon. We stayed just one night before taking the ferry to wellington. The toilet is too far. The town have a river park really nice but it is far for the campgrounds. We slept well and left early. Just for one night
Syaed here twice, once in early May and once yesterday. Pretty decent place. There's 4 large, clearly markee bays with a sign explaining the rules. You can stay Thurs night to friday morning, I checked with the council. Toilet is clean but a short walk into the sports area. Both times, cars pulled in playing music loud but caused no trouble and left around 10/11pm. As a tip, park central in your space so no one squeezes in, as it's 1 per bay and someone parked in ours after us and wouldn't move.
There's 4 bays and not more. Don't share them, as there is someone rocking up at 6am to send people away! If you want to stay illegal park away from the others, as it wakes up everyone else (slamming doors, running engines, headlights) There's one open toilet 150m away after the basketball court. Disabled unisex one is open (over night as well)
I arrived late, at night it is difficult to find the 4 signaled spots (they are marked in yellow at the very beginning of the parking lot). At6:30 a man woke us up telling me to move immediately or then I will face a fine. Restrooms are after the sport field
Itβs a car park with very few sites - stay here if you need to for the ferry but otherwise skip it
Self Contained site only MONDAY - THURSDAY
Big parking lot which was completly empty but only few spaces for freedom camping marked with yellow lines. We parked in a regular spot right beside it because and got thrown off by a friendly dude at 7:30 in the morning. Nevertheless good spot for Before or after taking the ferry.
