HUGE camping area with smooth level grass. Can get boggy after heavy rain, but there is firm ground before the grassy area. We spent 2 lots of 3 nights here, and at the most there were 10 others staying. Don't forget to book online before you arrive, there is no phone signal.
Huge and serene campsite, we were al almost alone here. :) no phone signal
Great field with sinks and toilets in the middle of nowhere.
Closed for winter! Pulled up yesterday, booked in, nothing on the website, after getting over that tiny bridge and gates flipping locked! Called DOC, after connected Starlink as no phone signal here, they had made an error allowing bookings, it is officially closed for winter, (advised NZMCA). The bridge! Oy vey! We’re 14 metres total, hitched up and it took me three attempts haha! Doable though, when it’s open!! Very small area to turn around though if gates locked,so check first! TASMANTRAVELS
It is very nice. But a bit confusing. On the doc site everything is fine. In front of the campsite there is a sign saying it is closed due to theft. But other than that everything else seems to be ok. There is absolutely no signal. We booked before we got there. It is all grass so with heavy ran the tires are not going to have a good grip.
One of the best camping places, I have had so far because it was so quiet and in the middle of nature. But there is no Internet or signal.
Freshly mown grass and overall the site is very well presented. Despite the size it’s a quiet spot with only a few campers on a Friday night. Not sure why as it’s a beautiful spot. Bit of a hidden gem.
Got there pretty late due to delayed ferry but managed to pull up to a massive site and pitch up our rooftop tent and had a very quiet sleep. Flush toilets and water you can boil. $20 for 2 cash only.
Really beautiful large site. Only 2 other campers there. Flush toilets and running water. Secluded and peaceful. Bird song by day, silent starry skies by night. Soft grass, no mud when we were there mid January.
What a great spot! As described by others… too big an area to get busy, sunny and shady options, nice amenities, beauty river, no prob with bugs. Most birdsong I’ve heard in upper SI.
