You have to pay one dollar for the hot shower.
Very lovely campsite near the river. Very spacious and a lot of (clean) amenities for a DOC campsite. You have beautiful view of the river, especially in the farthest spots of the unpowered area. There are hot showers (coin operated) and near the parking area there is a shop that sells nice meals and drinks.
Awesome location and campsite. Use your DOC pass here and get power! Showers are ok, water is not drinkable, close to river and bridge. Coffee/food cart at office, well looked after.
This site charges you double, even though you are Only one person. Nomatter what, you must pay for at least two adults.
Amazing turquoise water, lots of greenery. Has an office and cafe (though it wasn’t opened when we visited in winter Aug 2025. Clean toilets near office. Campsites look good, with camp kitchen and bins for rubbish. Laundry takes 3 x $2 coins per wash. And also 3 x $2 coins for dryer. No coin changer so we didn’t use the laundry. There is also clothes lines to hang your washing. There are powered and unpowered sites available. Powered ones are nearer to main road and unpowered near waters
Fantastic campsite! Fantastic hosts! HOWEVER! The road in is tight like a tiger on entry to Kahikatea (unpowered side). We’re 14 metres total hitched up, but one of us had to get out, go ahead to make sure no one else was coming and to make sure I didn’t hit anything. A big-rig wouldn’t get in we don’t think because of the tight turns and we went mega slow. Once through though really quite spacious and very pretty. The hot showers now cost $1.00 to use, really clean toilets, kitchen area.
Beautiful campsite right next to the river. Site immaculately clean and tidy. Highly recommended. The unpowered sites have much better views and amenities
Stayed on an unpowered site by the river. Great facilities, hot showers, drinking water laundry available. Was much busier than my last stay. But would certainly return
Stayed in the powered side of the campground. About a 2 minute walk to the river/office. 10 min walk to unpowered sites. Loved tubing down the river, rope swing off the bridge, and the free hot showers! If staying again would just pull the RV into the unpowered part of the camp. Closer to the river and better facilities. Overall a great stay!
Be aware the site consists of two locations. One is very beautiful with acces to the stream and great facilities. The other, with powered sites, is like a car park with no view and mediocre facilities.
