Not allowed to Camp here
Lovely playground for the kids. But I don’t think you can freedom camp here anymore. Only for NZMCA members.
No freedom camping sign anywhere. Kids sdvebture parks parking is not allowing to park overnight and on the other side its private camping club parking area.
We arrived on site and spoke with a vajutanye who confirmed to us that there is no room for the night on this site contrary to what is written on coermate. no telephone or signs Very unpleasant surprise at nightfall especially since this site lends itself well to a quiet night
Only saw no parking overnight in one lot, and in the north lot, a NZMCA members only parking. Don't bother coming here unless you know where the real spot is because we didn't find it. The park looked really cool for kids though, and there were washrooms. But no camping.
We just stayed here for one night in the northern car park. There are six spaces available for campervans. Anywhere else around the playground camping is prohibited. On the council website there are no restrictions listed for this spot, however a big sign at the car park tells us it is only permitted to stay for NZMCA financial members. We decided to donate a fair amount for the upkeep of the playground and the campsite and stayed. Nobody came and asked us to leave until we left around noon.
There is a big sign saying no overnight staying, do I don't think it's still a viable option
Stop here if you have kids!😄
Absolutely brilliant for the kids, it's the biggest and most diverse play area we've seen so far coming from the South Island! Perfect for a stop on the road!
This is such a highlight. This park has a small fenced toddler park within the playground, clean bbqs, sand. I’ll volleyball court, basketball court, adult exercise equipment as well as play equipment for children from zero years plus! The flying fox is great and the little train on the weekends. Can’t fault park
